I graduated from the ‘players drama school’ after six years of attendance, in 2005. During my time at the school I performed in three shows ‘Oh What A Lovely War’, ‘The Crucible’ and ‘West Side Story’. In the latter of these performances I played the leading role ‘Maria’. The shows in which I appeared, not only challenged and stretched my acting and singing abilities, but also gave me the opportunity to make friends with like minded people who surrounded me, many of which I am still in close friends with today.
After my graduation I was asked to return to the drama school, this time as a ‘big sister’. My duties involved different aspects of public relations, but most importantly the chance to watch and help others as they grew in confidence and ability, just as I had done in previous years. This was a great privilege and a time I will never forget.
Currently I am an undergraduate at the University of St. Andrews, reading Linguistics, Psychology and Social Anthropology. Although I am no longer pursuing a career in dramatic arts, I still would very much like to return to amateur dramatics when I have finished my degree. Drama no longer effects my life in an obvious way, however I am positive that without the head start ‘players’ gave me I would not be in the position I am in today. ‘players’ has taught me to be proud of my talents, and to push and challenge myself. I am very grateful to have been given the opportunity to take part in such a nurturing and encouraging organization.
